The A.P. State Council of Higher Education, Government of A.P has issued notification of Post-Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (PGECET) for admission into Ist year M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Pharm./ M.Arch/ M.plg Degree Courses for the academic year 2011-2012 in the all Universities in A.P and their affiliated colleges offering M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Pharm./ M.Arch/ M.plg Programme.

Importance of PGECET:

  • Due to large number of B.Tech graduates coming out every year, an M.Tech would be an added advantage for finding the Job.
  • The engineering colleges are not equipped with sufficient faculty. Doing M.Tech is a good option for engineers willing to take teaching as a profession.
  • It's easy finding core specific jobs by doing Post graduation.
  • One has the option of pursuing PhD programme after M.Tech through this entrance test.

Eligibility:

A degree in B.Tech/ B.E/AMIE/ B.Pharmacy/ B.Arch/ B.plan. Final year students of these courses can also apply.

Admission Criteria:


The admission is through the PGECET for filling up the seats (not requiring GATE score) of all the Universities in A.P and their affiliated colleges offering M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch/M.plg Programme.

Syllabus:

The syllabus for PGECET is same as that of GATE syllabus. The standard of questions asked in the PGECET is little lower than the GATE. Those preparing for the GATE exam can get through this entrance test.

Exam Pattern:

The objective question paper is of 120 marks containing 60% of theory questions and 40% problematic (formula based) questions.

Preparation Strategy:


  • One can score high if strong in basics and formulas.
  • Analysing the pattern of the questions asked in the exam on a particular subject and thereby concentrating on its concepts.
  • Along with reading the text books the objective questions should also be practiced.
  • Practicing the previous papers of the GATE and Engg Service Exam can fetch you good marks

How to apply:

The candidate can apply for more than one PGECET-2011 Entrance Test by filling in as many application forms as the number of Entrance Tests one wish to take. Application fee of Rs. 500/- for each Entrance Test should be paid by DD. The application form along with DD numbers and the e-mail IDs should be different for different tests.

Sale of Application Form:

Applications are available at the following places and can be obtained by paying Rs. 500/- for others and Rs. 250/-(Rupees Two hundred and fifty only) for SC/ST. through D.D. drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of Secretary, APSCHE payable at Hyderabad on or before 26th April 2011. However application can also be sent with a) a late of Rs. 500/- up to 7th May, 2011. b) a late fee of Rs.2000 up to 21st May 2011.

Submission of application:

The Candidates are advised to submit the duly filled in Application Form for Entrance Test by Speed Post through the Head Post Offices or delivered in person at the Office of The Convener, PGECET -2011, Department of E.C.E, University College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad- 500 007 ( A.P) on or before stipulated date.

b) With Late Fee of Rs.500/- 07-05-2011 by 5:00pm
